Spiraled Grain Sampling Probe, Brass 62" with 10 Slots and Open Handle. Vertical & Angled Sampling. 8 lbs.
The first essential step in grain grading is to obtain a correct and representative sample. Cars, trucks, wagons or barge loads should be sampled with a double tube probe in five or more places. Also used for plastics, Our Grain Probes are made to conform to USDA specifications. They are constructed from extra heavy gauge tubing for durable, time-tested sampling.
Open-ended probes without partitions are more convenient to empty and are widely used by the grain elevator operators for obtaining samples from truck loads. After sample is obtained, probe is held upright and sample is dumped from the handle.
The openings on the inside tube rotate around (Spiral) so that it opens first at the bottom and then in gradual steps to the top.
The Spiraling assures a fair proportion of grain samples from the bottom levels as well as from the top. The Spiral Probe is highly recommended for sampling grains when foreign material is apt to be heaviest near the bottom of a truck. The construction of the probe is a double-tube brass with a 1 3/8" outside diameter and heavy bronze point. The Spiral tube is also recommended for Plastic sampling which are often done at an angle.
All Probes have an Outside Diameter of 1-3/8", are of Double-Tube Construction and have Slot Openings that are 3-3/8" L x 7/8" W
